really liked it
bookshelves: historicalromance, historical-fiction

I have had some issues with Moran's ancient Egyptian books, though there is no denying that they are highly readable. I had felt that her style was more suited to more recent well-documented history and this novel proved that to me.

I knew nothing about Madame Tussaud before reading this and found it an interesting account of the French Revolution from the perspective of a woman who experienced both sides of the conflict.

Some of the scenes are not for the faint-hearted. Moran certainly captures a sense of the period and its main players and I was grateful for her end-notes.
