O-M-freaking-G I loved this book!! My absolute favourite character was Ruth Jean/Ruthie. She was absolutely adorable. The way K.C. Lynn wrote her speech was fantastic and made her that much more dear to me. "Why do you have earrings in your boobies?" LMAO
Well, I've been waiting for Cade's story since book 1 and anticipated a dark and interesting read based on his personality and broodiness. I was not disappointed with this. What he and Faith went through, not to mention Jaxson and Sawyer, was freaking gut-wrenching and I wouldn't wish that torment on my worst enemy. The author wrote these scenes beautifully.
Cade's irrational fear of religion was insane!! Every time it came up I wanted to punch him and shake him. He's a grown man but refused to use logic where "men of God" were concerned. I really liked that although the role of faith in God played a huge part in this book, it was in no way overwhelming. It was more about finding faith, not losing faith, having compassion and keeping hope alive than anything else.
Honestly, what Faith and Cade did for Ruthie and Christopher was amazing. And if more people like them existed in the real world, then less children would have to suffer through untold abuse.
For a debut series for this author this was extraordinarily good and I would definitely welcome the opportunity to read more of her work. I can envision a brilliant future for this writer for sure. XO
