Started as a promising gothic tale complete with mysterious castle with mad man in the attic. Didn't hold up. Story jumped all around and had TOO MANY mysteries that were conveniently tied up in a nice bow at the very end. I kept waiting for the moment when it would become compelling, when I couldn't put it down. That moment never arrived, though I kept plodding along looking for it.

I really loved The Forgotten Garden so was surprised at how much I DIDN'T love this!
