4.5 Doodle Stars!!
Dear Aly Martinez:
Why oh why oh why must you keep teaching me a lesson??? Every time I've picked up one of your books, I'm always pleasantly surprised by what I find. Why am I surprised? Because somehow you keep each story unique. I'm not sure how the heck you do it.
Your writing is always phenomenal and this book was no exception. I wasn't a huge fan of the flashback, but I understand why it had to be done. You took me back to where Till and Eliza started and I got to see when and then how their love blossomed. You got me to look at windows and doors in a whole new light!
Thank you so much for bringing Slate, Erica, Leo and Sarah (with their children) into this book. I wondered how this story would blend but I didn't worry because I knew if anyone could pull this off, it would be you. Slate was just as freaking awesome as ever and I LOVED his interactions with Till.
The way you incorporated the silence was freaking extraordinary. I freaking gasped!!(view spoiler) You continuously bring me close to tears and I'm not sure whether I love or hate you for it. Are you really trying to turn me into a pansy-assed soft-hearted little bitch??? The feels were everywhere in this book. Whether I was laughing, trying not to cry, frustrated, angry, etc. I felt EVERYTHING! Each and every time you bring me to the brink of devastation. And I love it because it is simply beautiful. Each and every word you write, each and every emotion you capture is stunning.
I could go on and on with this but really, I just want to say, thank you once again for another stellar book and I'm ending this now so that I can find out what the heck is going on with my boy Flint.
Appreciatively yours,
Natalie
