it was amazing

This is just plain hands-down an excellent introduction to mummies. I assumed when I checked it out that it would be mostly Egyptian in nature, but Sloan covered ice mummies, the bog mummies, and even Lenin. The most unique feature of this book (aside from stellar National Geographic photos) were the panels on the right side of each section that gave a "recipe" for how each kind of mummy was made. Not only will this be a great book to give to reluctant readers, it will also be a solid contribution to reliable sources on the subject.
