Cover of the 1976 Popular Library mass-market. You can tell it's post-Exorcist, as it definitely imitates the style, as did a lot of horror or occult-themed paperbacks of the day.

Carla Remy That's funny. I was just reading this, but I only read the first one. It was good, I love Edith Wharton, but.... I'm sure I could be/have been scared by a ghost story, but usually I'm just not. Not that being scared matters, but I just think it's dumb? I'll read the rest sometime. Probably one of them s terrific.
