One of the better "In Death" books. In this one the murder case hits close to home - a fellow detective, who also happened to be dating Morris, the medical examiner. On the lighter side, Eve throws a bridal shower for Louise, while Roarke and company head off to Vegas with Charles.

Timeline wise, Eve and Roarke are approaching their second anniversary. While Roarke intended it to be an anniversary gift, Eve trashing another company car has Roarke offering her a car of her own. Flush with all the latest toys, but conservatively plain looking, so she doesn't have to worry about leaving it on the street while she's doing her job.
