really liked it
bookshelves: kids, newbery, that-s-what-the-fuss-is-about

I loved Calpurnia in all of her stubbornness and inability to be a proper 19th century girl. Although a naturalist, she cannot understand why humans act the way they do, and expect her to be a demure girl who is great at housework.

I've rated it four stars, only because it took me a while to get into the book.
