really liked it

As a haole born and raised in Hawaii, I had high expectations, and they were met. I wanted a more contemporary narrative, and I usually find history pretty boring, but Vowell made Hawaii's sordid path toward statehood entertaining. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Hawaii, and abhors the notion of imperialism.
