It had me at Minotaur, and the mother of “Percy” turning into a shower of gold. Snicker.

I don’t know that it had a vasty amount of vasty depth, but it was a fun retelling of some classic stories. The myth of Procrustus was the first one that ever got me in the gut, and retelling it through a waterbed salesman was AWESOME.

A sincere but refreshing retake on the American/Campbellian monomyth. All the people claiming it’s ripping of Harry Potter are hil-ar-ious. Brothers and sisters, it’s just another faithful dip into the same mythic source. Only this one is a little more American, a little less Cool Britannia.

Good fight scenes. Very well constructed. Great bus book.
