Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors. I really appreciate her mysteries because they are thrilling with no sex scenes and no bad language.

I enjoyed this one, but got kind of bogged down with the long courtroom scenes.

As in most of Clark's books, there is more than one story being told. The main story in this book is about a young lawyer who is trying to prove a man guilty, even though she has doubts whether he really killed his wife. She gets a guilty verdict, but then finds out the primary witness was lying.

Along with this story, is the story of the serial killer that lives next door to this young lawyer, and who is stalking her and is going to kill her because she hasn't returned his love.

The readers know at the beginning of the book that the husband isn't the murderer, so it was kind of painful to see him treated so unfairly and harshly and to see the main character, who is a good person, do everything she can to ruin him.
