No no no no no!! I was kind of hoping that the warning/disclaimer at the beginning of the book was an exaggeration. That the story didn't really get darker. OMG I'm soooooo gone right now. This book isn't just dark. It's black. Inky black. Can't see the bottom of the pit black. Every time I think that Alex has figured out a way to save Anna from some of Devin's evil, there's a freaking twist.

Why are those immortals helping Devin? How are they allowed? Is there no Grand Council for these immortals? They're just allowed to run amok willy nilly? Why aren't the other immortals trying to step in? And hello... did no one else question the fact that Sebastian can't die????

The worst scene is what Devin manipulates Jamie to do to make herself into a sacrifice. This scene was extremely disgusting. My crotch hurt on behalf of crotches everywhere. My womb contracted. Let's just say that I was suffering through some hectic phantom pains. That's all I'm going to say about that.

(view spoiler)[I don't believe that Alex is really gone. The story couldn't possible end him like that. I think Devin and his immortals are behind this. If Alex were really dead, wouldn't Anna be? I thought that based on the bonding ceremony, that's how the death thing worked. (hide spoiler)]

The decent folk to root for are Alex, Anna, Wilhelm, Ilsa, Kurt, Aaron, Jenna, Isaak, Ben, Matt, Tom and his son Tommy, sometimes Ian, Seth, Tony, Sebastian, and the rest of the assassin team (not sure if I've missed anyone else).

The absolute evil to watch out for, and when I say watch out I mean chances are the scene will be crazy with them involved, are Devin, his immortal crew, his politicians, his questionable acquaintances, his son Tyler, his circle period. Anyone attached to Devin is just freaking evil so be prepared.

I'm on to book 4 because I have to know if there are any peeks of Alex shining through the pages. Love me some Alex!!
