I loved this book. The author wrote knowledgeably about 1895 Iowa. She included great humor, moral dilemmas, flawed but sympathetic characters, excellent sailing scenes, wonderful Victorian celebration descriptions, plot twists to keep pages turning, and a satisfying conclusion. Now, for the best part of this story: the dialog! Funny, funny, funny. I laughed out loud. I almost never do that, even with extremely entertaining stories. I'd call this book a keeper but it is too good to keep to myself, so I am letting another reader discover this author and become a fan, too.
