I find this a travel document more than Darwin's thesis about natural selection. Natural selection gets a tiny mention at the end of the book and it really makes the journey more noble after mentioning it.

I thought it was a bit eccentric the way that Darwin describes the native indian populations in South America. I find it an interesting document of the emergence of a 'Latin' America. I was half expecting it to be about Darwin's own thought but it was more of his observations, in a way I prefer it that way. It provides a context for his 'Origins' once I get to actually reading it!
