This novel really touched me. The story of a very large Catholic family in Ireland. The children are all grown up and one of them has just been found dead. It's no big surprise. The narrator is - by her own estimation anyway - the most level-headed and responsible of the lot. She takes charge of the body and all of the arrangements, even as her own life begins to unravel. This is a story of family secrets, guilt, and dysfunction. It's full of fury, and deep sadness, regrets, and that irritation that borders on disgust I think we all feel sometimes around those we're supposed to love because they are our relations.

I loved this book.
