Oh freaking crap!! I asked for dark and this definitely fit the freaking bill!! It was dark, gritty, disgusting, confusing, alarming, and yet somehow sexy. I've already accepted my weirdness factor. Why haven't you?!

I normally don't recap the plot of books, but I just couldn't help myself to point out some parts to give a general idea of the twisted fu**ry that is this story.

My heart absolutely bled for Anna. She is so naive and confused. She has no idea what normal even is. Her normal is a freaking nightmare. After losing her parents in a car crash, she was appointed a guardian (Jack). Life was okay but Jack continued to isolate her from her old life to the point that she no longer had much interaction with the outside world except through her ballet. She seemed okay with this because Jack and his bestie Devin loved her. NOT!! On her 16th birthday, her nightmare truly began.

I cannot even fathom how devastating it must have been for her to endure what she did. Here are two men who profess to love her and they turn her out!! Now she hasn't a clue what real love is. For four years she is beaten and gang banged. Repeatedly. Cue her 20th birthday. Oh man, Anna's birthdays are freaking unreal! Devin takes over Anna's care and convinces her that she will still be a sex slave but most importantly his mistress. Who would want that? Well Anna did. She convinces herself (or deludes herself) that she loves Devin and that he loves her. Remember that she has no clue what love is. Don't get caught up in the idea of the word mistress either. It is not in its truest sense. At all.

Throughout this book Anna is abused, raped, beaten, degraded, humiliated, etc. Through it all she sees it as her due, which was what I think the most unfortunate part of her tragedy.

I can't wait to read book 2 to see more. Alex seems like a great ally. Do I detect a true love interest? I was promised a HEA after all. Ooooh I am anxious to read more. Cheers for now!
