I enjoyed The Queen of Bedlam. I loved the atmosphere of New York in 1702. Matthew Corbett is growing into his shoes and is given a challenging job of finding out who The Masker is before the killer is caught by authorities and his identity published in the paper, The Earwig. The hunt for The Masker leads Matthew on an adventure that spans to Philadelphia and beyond. Robert McCammon is an excellent writer who brings the characters to life. His descriptions of an early country and fledgling town are fabulous. The answers to Matthew's questions regarding The Masker may involve a patient in a mental institute who is known by The Queen of Bedlam. The only thing she mutters is "has the King's reply come yet?" Other than that she is mute and Matthew is thrown into a mystery that only someone with his ability to sort through logic can solve. McCammon is tops!
