I really love the feel of Simner's Faerie books. I think the world she has created here is amazing and the way that it is written gives it an eerie, evocative quality. I got sucked in and devoured both of these books but I keep feeling like there is something abbreviated about them. I know that Simner has written for very young children in other work she's done and maybe that is effecting the book length she targets. I just feel like she came up with this wonderful idea and wrote about it beautifully, but didn't make of it all it could be. I also had a hard time remembering all of the details from the first book and that was important information. I wish I had re-read Bones of Faerie before reading this sequel.
