did not like it
bookshelves: couldn-t-finish

I really enjoyed Allison Pearson's first book and was so excited to read this one: a story that begins with a young girl enamored with a hearthrob singer? Yes, please. I hoped it would be a fun story, with the clever and witty pace of Pearson's first book (I Don't Know How She Does It). Unfortunately, this book missed the mark by a mile. Pearson's clever writing style shone through in a few passages, but overall it was very clunky. I kept wondering when it would pick up and thought so many of the scenes were pointless. There was crude language, which didn't add at all. We're talking about 13 year old girls here in the first half of the book, for heaven's sake!

Sadly, I didn't even finish it. I couldn't see the point in wasting any more time on it. I really wanted to love it, but no. Skip this one.
