I wanted to like this. I really did. Indeed there was a lot I did like about this book. The writing is actually good, and it's a bibliophile's dream. In the end, what killed it for me was the relationship between the two. At first I was liking it, but about 250 pages in I was ready to throw this book across the room. I'm OK with a slightly over-protective alpha male romantic lead. I get the appeal in being taken care of, but there is scene after scene of him controlling every little bit of her life, down to what she eats and when she sleeps. At some point it totally stopped being romantic and seemed more like abuse to me.
