it was ok

This book was a book that I wouldn't take the time to read on my own. I like that the story had a lot of mystery in it, but I don't like that the book ends with an unfinished ending. This book is a very good book, but it's just not my type of genre to read. Well, the mystery part is, but the end of the book, leaving it a mystery, is not my type of genre that I really am interested in. Despite of The City of Ember not being my type of book to read and really like, this book is actually kind of interesting and really catches my attention. I would recommend this book to people who really like fiction and likes the end of a book to be left a mystery for them to wonder about.

James The ending isn't left open ended or to be pondered.... There are two sequels and a prequel which DuPrau published a little while after. These three books explain why the city had to be built and what happens after Doon and Lina discover the exit. Read "the people of sparks" if you want to find out what happens.

Jay Jason I don't think sequals were needed here. One could imagine that Doon and Lina are joined by the rest of the city and start a civilization above ground. I like books that leave you pondeing what would happen adter the final page. I don't like sequals because they don't correspond with my imagination.
