Spock, Klingons, Captain Pike - a great combination.

This is an excellent example of threading the tricky needle of filling in details within a highly developed canon. Cox takes *many* facts about Trek, even from the Enterprise series, and weaves them into a story when Spock was second officer under Pike. Carefully set up with a Spock's life paired up against a Klingon who, like him, is a "child of two worlds." Twists and turns are nicely plotted - just a great story - worth reading!
