There is a litany of "problematic", fatphobic, racist, and generally offensive things said in this book. Reader discretion is strongly advised. He even managed to sneak transphobia into a book about food history!

However, Pollan is a very talented writer, and I just couldn't put the book down. Who knew that corn was so damn fascinating? It's also refreshing to read about the evils of the food industry from someone who isn't a militant vegan or food-hater.

So I'd recommend this book, with a whole box-o-salt, to foodies with strong stomachs & a critical analysis.
