really liked it
bookshelves: early-readers, family, multicultural-diversity, picture-books, realistic-fiction, award-winning

This Caldecott winner was great. The illustrations are filled with adorable child-like drawings/colorings. Also, I loved that the text really portrayed a young child speaking, instead of sounding like an adult using small words. Another favorite was that the main character is bi-racial with dad being white and mom being black. I loved that it shows a mixed family. This book is great for teaching on traditions and families.
