it was amazing

What a pleasure it is to dip into a fat book and live in the story that has been created! Although reviews below seem to critique one element or another, I though the balance of description, emotion, British history and geography were in the correct proportion for a good read. It is nice to think of a woman who bucked her time period discovering beauty (of butterflies) and scientific facts. On the other hand, the story tells that Eleanor was stupid about love and loyalty in spite of not chosing a right partner again and again. That still happens today! Perhaps even more frequently. I suppose I would have made some of the same mistakes!
