An intriguing and insightful book about the plight of gays in Iraq, with both political and religious prejudice wrecking havoc in their lives. The story was interesting and heartfelt, but I wasn't crazy about the magic realism elements, and the thin book felt like it could/should have been developed a bit more...but really more of a 3.5 rating.

Hasan Namir Thank you very much Doug! I appreciate your feedback!

Doug are the 2nd writer this week who has 'liked' one of my reviews. I have an Iraqi friend (whose name, coincidentally, is Sajjad!) now living in Turkey, whose life was very much like Ramy's, so that was one impetus for me to read it. I actually wavered between a 3 and a 4 rating ... and as you see, I went back and 'upped' it to a 3.5 in the review, since I was originally going to say that. :-) Best wishes for further writing success!

Hasan Namir Thank you very much, Doug. For me, your feedback is very much valued because I can take it all into consideration when I write my next one. I appreciate all the honest feedback as it will help me grow as a writer. Thanks.
