it was amazing
bookshelves: romance, fairy-tales, fantasy, young-adult

I think I'm just in love with all of the books by Alex Flinn. Many people of the critical comments that I have read for this book includes that it's not deep and that it's just a retelling of fairy tales. However, I think that sometimes in life, it's good to read something enjoyable and not take it too seriously. Rather than reading the passion that are always found in those classical romance novels, it's better sometimes just to have an open mind towards young teenage love. Also, I think that Flinn has done a wonderful job in RETELLING those fairy tales. She made the story so that all of the characters have an important role in the plot and that all of the characters come together neatly at the end. Some people also comment that the book isn't as good as Beastly, Flinn's first book. This, I have to agree, but I still would give this 5-stars just for being such a great read.
I really liked each of the characters that were created in the story. For instance, Meg is an intelligible girl with a long-time crush for her best friend Johnny. Though she would always try to hint to him that she wants to be more than friends with him, Johnny is, unfortunately, dense and ignores it. I feel like scenarios like that are very common in societal life for modern teens. I feel like there could have been more action in the book, but I understand that this book isn't supposed to be something like Lord of the Rings.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a quick, light-hearted read that ends happily ever after.
