it was amazing
bookshelves: acquired-in-2016, i-own, illustrated-book

When taken into context that these thoughts and poems were pre-civil rights, this provides a historical benchmark of how special this book really is. First and foremost Langston Hughes defines "his people" as beautiful, as worthy of belonging, and this is an affirmation of looking inside, projecting outward to radiate the beauty that is an integral part of self acceptance.

Highly recommended!
