I just found at the back of my wardrobe a large bag of children's novels, and among them were four Alex Mack books. I could have easily read them all two dozen times between age 7-12, and I was surprised at how much of Pool Party Panic I remembered.

What I was more surprised over, was how well done the story was. It's actually a more than acceptable story for an older child or young teenager to read. The plot was well-devised, there was no overly cheesy dramatisation. Just a simple and well-told story, well developed characters for a short book, and a pleasant lack of 90s novel cliches.
