really liked it

** spoiler alert ** the premise of this book was such a fascinating concept to me that it reeled me in almost right from the start. kingsolver is a VERY good writer, and i enjoyed reading about their year-long experiment, and in the end, it really inspired me to want to try and work towards becoming more self-reliant in terms of gardening and canning/preserving.

as good as her writing was, the one thing that bothered me about the book was that i felt almost as if there was a slight sense of condescension (if not condemnation) towards anyone who was not living the same standards and ideals that she has. overall, though, i really liked the book and found it very interesting.
