City of Bones is a very elaborate supernatural type book. It is the first of the series. I like how it really gives you a new perspective of the world and makes you wonder if it is always as it seems. Some of the things in it though are a little out there and hard to relate to. City of Bones is about an average girl named Clary comes home one day to find her mother gone and her house destroyed. There was a demon snake thing and she fought that off and eventually killed it as it nearly killed her. Then "shadow hunters", who kill demons and stuff saved her. They took her to their base and she learned her mother was once married to an evil leader in this unknown world. He stole a magical cup that the immortal world uses to create more shadow hunters. All of her life she had no idea about this world until now. Now her best friend is being dragged and endangered in this world as she tries to rescue her mom before its too late. They don't know if she is still alive, but they have no other options. Meanwhile Clary is trying to overcome a block in her mind that her mother had a warlock install in her brain so she wouldn't have to deal with all this.
