really liked it
bookshelves: children, historical

This review is from the perspective of a mother. I am reading the books to decided when they are age appropriate for my daughter.

The particular book gets into some tough issues. Molly learns a lot about empathy and life during war time from her new friend from England, Emily. But all is not perfect, and I think this book gives a good rendition of the kinds of corss-cultural differences, and the kind of misunderstandings and jealousies of 9 year olds.

The Looking Back section has slipped my mind - perhaps the way people celebrated birthdays, or perhaps about the British refugee children?
