Lorette I got about two-thirds through this before I decided to give up. When I first started to read it, I just thought that I hated it because I really liked the movie, and trust me, the Hawkeye of the book is no Daniel Day-Lewis. The book is packed with racial and cultural stereotypes, and none of the characters are believable or likeable. Cooper's dialogue and descriptive passages are a good cure for insomnia, but that's about it. I'm marking this one "abandoned".
