really liked it
bookshelves: war, classic
Read from March 19 to April 03, 2011

Anglo-centric in general, and Churchill-centric in particular, this is one of the great military memoirs of the English language. Some of the excessive detail regarding troop counts and such gets a bit soporific, but the political insights and overarching worldview are vital to our understanding of all that went wrong in the decades after World War One.
