Glad I was able to finally read Eon after several months of...uhm.. contemplation? hehe. My first thoughts of Eon's synopsis: ooooh dragons, huh? like those kinds kids love watching on tv, warped on cartoons, with matching wings and fierce fire that comes out of their scary mouth and everything? because uhm, for the record, this is actually my first dragon book, ever(im not ashamed)! pardon my petty impression coz i'd personally prefer watching dragons on television, better to have the visuals of the likes of them. Until... i read Eon! I never thought to have so greatly enjoyed the concept of dragons (coz they're epically described by the author) and to have easily visualized them through my fantasy-moded mind. they appeared to be so vivid in my head and i couldn't help but be truly amazed like whoa, everytime Eon sees them. it's refreshing to read about the dragon magic, and the dragoneyes and especially the annual choosing of the reigning dragon for its apprenticeship. pretty cool and exhilarating. add to that the asian setting that spiced up my interest more. for some reason, the idea of Hua(energy), and how Eon can see through and summon(for the lack of a better term) it, reminds me of the concept of 'shakra' in the anime Naruto, which im sure is not really appropriate to compare. lol. there were parts in the book (mid-part) that bored me though, and times that i got frustrated by some of Eon's indecisive actions. but overall - really good! an awesome read for those who are craving for fantasy and dragons and magic and actions. anime lovers who happen to love reading may probably enjoy this one too.
