really liked it

Okay, I have a new series.

I keep getting sucked into supernatural-creature books, so you may be asking me, "MJ, why would I bother starting this one? What sets it apart? What makes it special?"

My answer: Mercy Thompson.

She's not a whiny teenager whose identity rests solely on the vampire family she craves to belong to. She's not a Southern waitress who defies common sense and dates vampires because they're freshly outed and fashionable. She's a smart, independent woman, the owner and main mechanic of her own import car shop, and she's a coyote. Sometimes. When SHE decides to be. She's not a werewolf, who has to answer the call of the moon.

So here I go, into a new suspense-mystery series. I'll let you know as I go how I feel about Mercy in subsequent books, but so far, so good.
