liked it

Owing to his father's ties to the New York folk scene, Wlnetz an accomplished writer in is own right takes the time to tackle Dylan. Most of the book works well. It falls apart in the minutae as many of these projects tend to do. There is no reason to pile up obscure reference upon obscure reference. We get it. Dylan is a bright, well read man. I think anyone tackling this book knew that going in. After awhile the references become tedious and the author is almost engaging in intellectual one upmanship with Dylan himself. Look at me I've got you figured out etc. Still there is a lot of new material here, especially about Bob's later years, an era where he has made some of his best music.
