it was ok

I was reading this for the food. Teasing in the descriptions of tastes and smells, not quite satisfying my craving. I had high hopes as I have a M Jaffrey cookbook and do love it so. She writes in a matter-of-fact way that is good for a cookbook but did not pull me into the world of her childhood, it felt as if we were listing or observing from a high very small window, rather than in the thick of it. I dragged it around for a month and could have been more satisfied if i had read only a few select chapters. Some lovely food thoughts and nice recipes at the end.
