Second of the James Bond novels. It's a thriller, but it's so contrived that it's almost cute; in search of smuggled gold, Bond runs afoul of a huge black torturer/killer/mob boss/voodoo practitioner. Add in the obligatory helpless beautiful female, plenty of goons and elaborate traps... you get the idea.
