I did not understand the ending! I loved how it ended with a final moral, but hated how it just cut of abruptly. Ugh, this book was infuriating. It was amazing but so slow! I usually finish books in a week or so, but this one was sadly a drag. The book was overall amazing, don't get me wrong, but so tedious and at times unnecessary. The novel is front the point of view of 6 year old Jean Louise(Scout) Finch as she grows up in Maycomb, a tight-knit town in a time of racism. The book is interesting hearing Scout's perspective as a little girl in that time and she is amazing wise, navigating with her brother Jem. I originally started with the set idea that I would give this book 3 stars and towards the middle I decided to give even less, but sadly towards the end is when I really saw what everyone was talking about. Besides the beautiful figurative language, unique voice prints, well-developed characters, and perspective. Also the morals threaded into the overall book and dialogue. There is also revelations that Scout and other characters have. They are brilliant and well done. There were a lot of things I enjoyed, but the thing that makes me never want to read this again is the pace! I apologize for all those who loved the novel "To Kill A Mockingbird", but I found it to be a tedious with slow buildups to nothing grand. Maybe it was because it was realistic fiction without magic or powers. Or maybe because it was written about a time period that makes me beyond angry. One thing that I also found a bit “iffy” was how Scout is suppose to be this six year tom-boy, little girl, but most of the time she see’s the world through such mature eyes, yet at other points she’s a crybaby. Maybe that's the point. To show a mercurial child experiencing all that. For these reasons I have to rate this novel 3.5 out of 5 stars.
