I'm a bit on the fence with this police procedural set in Russia during the 1960's. This novel took ages to get into and quite a while to warm to the characters themselves. I did enjoy the depiction of life in Russia during the period, the beaurocracy and communal living.

Enjoyed the setting, but the mystery/police procedural certainly didn't offer anything new to the genre. There were only a handful of characters here who could have been responsible for the death at the Dacha. The explanation offered in this mystery felt the least plausible..........Wanted to enjoy this as I love the genre and setting but this fell short for me.
