really liked it

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I had to dock a star because I don't feel that Qhuinn and Blay (Qhuay) got their due. This was supposed to be their book and I know many readers were counting on a great story, myself included. But this was a good story. Not fantastic and not truly worthy of this couple. What really pissed me off was that Qhuinn was denying he was gay but in the same breath wanted us to believe he was completely and totally in love with Blay! At no time was I ever in doubt of Blay's feelings. JRW did them justice, however, I wasn't convinced as to Qhuinn's true feelings. I also didn't appreciate hearing from Layla. Why does she continue to get a POV?? I don't care about her inner thoughts. They are pointless!! I just can't stomach her.

What I loved:

1. Blay using Saxton to cockblock Qhuinn. Every time Q brought up Sax, I laughed. LOLLOLLOLLOL!!
2. The back and forth between Assail and Sola (even though I have nothing to say about this Sola character. She offers nothing. Well obviously there is a new plot involving her, but I'm only interested in that because... Hello... Assail!
3. The gym/locker room scene with Qhuay. That was HOT!
4. How understanding and compassionate Saxton is with Blay. Poor guy. I really hope this character does get to find his own love.
5. The scene between Qhuay outside Luchas's clinic room. I love how Blay finally stood up for himself and voiced all of the issues to Qhuinn. I was like Dayummmmm! But it was so deserved. The lead up to that scene was intense. And then Q denies that he's gay!!
6. The scene between Qhuay at the Iron Mask. I screamed for this one. FINALLY!! Qhuinn finally comes out to Blay and I couldn't be happier for them. And the family crest! Too sweet! Finally Blay gets Qhuinn to see that they can be a family. Just awesome!

I also loved the scenes involving Trez and iAM. I'm hoping they find a solution to get Trez out of his mating. They, along with Rehvenge, are amazing allies for Wrath and the Brotherhood. I don't want them to leave.

Xcor is still interesting. And we get to see more of his sensitive soul in this book. I wish he were falling for anyone but Layla, but I'm not the writer and lack control over this. Too bad. I just don't think she's deserving of him. Ya, I said it. She's terrible. I dislike her the most out of all the characters. YES!! EVEN MORE THAN LASH!! Lash was consistent. He was always evil. Layla is just... I don't even know. She lacks strength. She's manipulative. She's whiny. She's needy. She's dependent. She lacks individual characteristics. There is nothing about her that screams like me. She lacks that special something that makes a heroine great. Then again, maybe I'm supposed to hate her. Maybe that was JRW's goal. Well done then JRW. Mission very much accomplished.

Favourite lines:

“I have loved you for years. I have been in love with you for years and years and years…throughout school and training…before transitions and afterward…when you approached me and yes, even now that you’re with Saxton and you hate me. And that… shit …in my fucking head locked me down, locked everything down…and it cost me you.”

You are perfect the way you are.” Blay’s voice was strong. “There is nothing wrong with who and what you have always been. I’m proud of you. And I love you. Now…and always.”
