really liked it

This was a gift - and a lovely one at that!

I think if one were to buy this thinking it's a cookbook, they would be disappointed. Likewise if it was purchased as a food memoir. Actually, it is a combination of the two.

The author sets out to discover what people eat when they're alone. Often the answers to this question are surprising. Many times the most accomplished cooks, when left to themselves, would indulge in something simple like sardines on toast or yogurt over roasted potatoes.

It made me feel less guilty over my guilty pleasure of a ploughman's lunch and tea. :-)
