I guess I really didn't want or need that much convincing that "beauty" is an artificial construct. I felt hammered over the head with facts and numbers, when I would have enjoyed a more colloquial tone. A much more relevant and interesting book by Wolf (in my opinion) is Misconceptions. Birthing today is much more pertinent to me than hearing for nearly 400 pages about how we have all been duped about beauty.

The problem may not be Wolf's book, which was written 20 years ago, but that these ideas are so well known to the current woman that they just aren't that shocking anymore. If that's the case, Wolf's message has spread well over the last two decades.
