This book had a lot of really good information about the state of intellectualism in the Evangelical Christian church, but the author spent far too much time ranting about political hot-button issues instead of refining his argument. His views on the church's view of homosexuality were mentioned probably a dozen times, and he gave very little explanation for them. He even questioned a fellow believer's salvation because that believer thought that homosexuality was genetic instead of a conscience decision. I have no problem if someone believes that about homosexuality, but Moreland wasn't writing a book about that specific topic.

The final chapter on church reform was very inspiring. He had some good ideas that could be easily applied to the Evangelical movement.

I also thought he had numerous good points about the Scriptural requirement of intellectual growth.

I wasn't a fan of his writing style, and after the tenth story about how he intellectually embarrassed a non-believer I got pretty frustrated. But in the end I give it a 3 because there was quite a bit of useful information intertwined with his useless and undefended commentary.
