really liked it
bookshelves: classics, seriouslit
Read in May, 2012

Tolstoy vividly and wittily depicts character, making an unfamiliar time and place seem recognizable through the eyes of those who inhabit it. I liked this one a lot more than I thought I might. My only issue was confusing some of the characters who had similar names and/or were referred to by different forms of address, nicknames, etc.
