bookshelves: mystery-contemporary, mystery-period, unabridged-audio, unfinished

The narrator of theis audio book is by far the worst I have ever encountered.

* She attempts an "upper class English accent" for one character that sounds much closer to an Irish brogue.
* Her inflections are dreadful --- you're an audiobook narrator; read ahead a bit to see what your tone should be at a given time.
* The story is set in Rome. Take the time to learn to pronounce the locales and some Italian words and phrases, at least. It's the Via VEN e to, not the Via Ven ET o; its Tras TEV eh ray, not Tras te VER ay. The guy responsible for the building is a por tier ay, not a portiere (a la Francais).

I am inches away from dumping this one . . .

message 1: by mary (new) - added it

mary OK, she just pronounced subito su-BEE-toe.

That does it; I'm outta here.

Celina Bad accent... the worst. I can't stand to listen to that.

And then, a good reader can make even a mediocre book worthwhile.

Antof9 Ugh - another reason I hadn't even thought of yet, for why I don't like audio books! Who would hire someone so awful?
