A little Korean girl dresses up for New Year’s Day. Each page shows her donning a piece of the elaborate costume. The pages have simple words and commentary as she sometimes struggles to wrap and tie the pieces. The tradition is to have everything new for the New Year. She even gets a new blanket of snow on the special day. The charming illustrations show vivid colors and traditional Korean furniture. The author adds a description of each costume piece with its Korean name at the end. She also explains Korean New Year’s Day, why they dress up, and its significance. This is a great book to read on Korean New Year, as an alternative to Chinese New Year.
