really liked it
bookshelves: dual-pov, paranormal, suspense

This was my least favourite book of the series so far. Don't get me wrong. I liked Phury, but I didn't love him. There was a huge disconnect for me. It was all the Wizard talk methinks. What the heck was all that???? Along with all of the great big editing snafus, I had to deal with this? Yup, a star was lost. I feel like JRW didn't really have much to offer for Phury and just threw together a little addiction, a little hero-complex, a little self-hatred, a stupid Chosen subplot, and hoped that something would stick. Sorry JRW but this plot for Phury sucked rotten eggs. I'm extremely disappointed. The only highlights of the book were scenes with John, Blaylock, and Quhinn. They made the book. The locker room/shower scene between John, Quhinn and Lash was on point. I loved how Q stepped up!! And the repercussions were fantastic!! That plot for the younger generation is spooky as hell and I can't wait until everyone figures out the lessers secret weapon. Another great thing to read was the fact that Blay and Quhinn are finally open about their feelings for one another. Oh, and another great thing about the book is that Tohr is back and a hot new character named Lassiter (an angel no less) has been introduced. Here's to hoping the next instalment has a marked improvement on this one!

Fave line:

“Pop! Pop! Fizz-fizz! Oh, what a relief it is.”

That is exactly what I imagined it sounded like when lessers are iced. So, thanks for that.
