did not like it

What was the point of this? On top of it, I listened to it in the car and had to slowly roll through every word. It is a portrait/character study of an ex-soldier in Africa, white Rhodesian, who was in the wars against independence in various countries. He's not a particularly interesting character, nor is there much of a plot. He's a bad guy, but not particularly sophisticated or interesting. Is the fact that he is now a born-again Christian supposed to give him depth? It doesn't, really.
